John Marriott is a marketing executive, strategist, and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience helping businesses scale through data-driven digital marketing, e-commerce conversion rate optimization, marketing automation, and enhanced analytics. As the founder of Orion Consulting Group, he provides marketing consulting and fractional CMO services to small and mid-sized businesses, helping them drive revenue growth, optimize digital advertising, and improve online performance.
John’s career spans executive leadership roles across e-commerce, media, events, and financial services, where he has led marketing transformations for both startups and established brands. Before founding Orion Consulting Group, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at multiple high-growth companies, spearheading strategies that delivered significant sales growth and enhanced brand visibility. His expertise includes paid and organic media, conversion rate optimization, SEO, analytics, and strategic marketing execution.
Earlier in his career, John held senior leadership positions at Source Interlink Media, PRIMEDIA, and SoftScience, driving multi-million-dollar revenue expansion and digital innovation. He began his consulting career in the High Tech Industries practice of the firm now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), where he developed expertise in technology-driven business transformations.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, John later earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He served for eight years as a U.S. Army Signal Corps officer, including deployment to Iraq during the Gulf War. During his military service, he developed the strategic vision and execution skills that continue to shape his approach to business. His disciplined, mission-driven mindset helps companies navigate complex challenges and achieve sustainable growth.
